A TREASURE trove of classic sports cars has been unearthed on an abandoned property in the UK.

YouTube star Exploring With Boss recently visited the extensive collection – which included a handful of vehicles considered highly sought after by enthusiasts.

Dotted around the property’s grounds were examples from MG, the famous British marque now under Chinese ownership, and even imported models from Datsun.

The location of the property, which has clearly been abandoned for some time, has been kept secret by the YouTuber – presumably to prevent any potential thieves or vandals from taking a look.

But it appears to be an old-style British farmhouse in an isolated part of the countryside, complete with a separate barn, possibly for horses.

In the grounds of the house sits a stunning Datsun 280Z – an incredibly rare car in the UK – alongside an MG MGB.

Despite being exposed to the elements for what seems like quite some time, the Datsun appears to be rust-free.

The MGB, on the other hand, while still intact, has clearly suffered from prolonged exposure to the outdoors.

Later, the YouTube star uncovers another MG, this time the less famous Midget model.

Hidden in the undergrowth, the Midget, which was launched in 1961, is essentially a smaller, more lightweight version of the MGB.

That wasn’t the last of the MGs either, as an MGB GT Coupe was later spotted – in much worse condition than the other two.

Furthermore, a classic and seldom-seen Audi 80 B2 was found in one of the larger buildings – likely a model from the 1980s, judging by the Quattro badge on the rear.

This comes as another YouTube-based gearhead recently discovered a classic truck in the woods – which he was able to get working again.

A team of enthusiasts who run the popular YouTube channel  Junkyard Digs were able to breathe new life into an abandoned 1979 Chevy C10.

Elsewhere, an area in Hawaii has become a haven for unwanted vehicles, which dozens of people seemingly dump every week.

The wrecks, which are not only an eyesore but also cause potential chemical hazards, are also becoming breeding grounds for vermin and mosquitoes – and also attract crime.

New laws passed in 2022 tried to combat the problem but have been ineffective – with many people finding it easier and cheaper to abandon their vehicles rather than go through the proper disposal process.

What’s more, some property owners sell parts from these vehicles for profit.

Five steps for restoring a car

Restoring a car can be a massive undertaking. Here's a simpler way to think about the process as a whole:

  1. Plan
    • This includes setting a budget, preparing a work area, researching parts, and establishing a timeline to get the work done.
  2. Strip the vehicle
    • This involves disassembling the vehicle and assessing the condition of the parts being removed.
  3. Bodywork
    • This means stripping the paint and repairing any rust and dents, followed by repainting.
  4. Engine restoration
    • This involves restoring a car’s power – including engine repairs.
  5. Rebuild
    • After reassembling and detailing the car, all that’s left is to take it for a test drive.
