In a recent TikTok video, she explained how good looks can actually be dangerous in prison.

She revealed that she did have “pretty privilege” in prison, and was able to get some perks, for example, having her uniform altered so that it was more flattering.

She said: “I was going to be in there for 10 years, so I wanted to feel like a girl”.

However, she added that her attractiveness did have a downside.

She said: “You could literally gain a hater instantly, just because they are jealous of how you look”.

Jennifer explained that people who she had never even spoke to her, would turn against her because of her looks.

She said: “And people that are jealous and angry, they might try to cut you in the face, they might try to beat you with a lock.”

Jennifer warned that prisoners need to walk a “tight line” as being pretty can open doors for you, but it can also lead to harm.

She said: “It can bring people your way that you might not want your way”.

Jennifer was sentenced to 10 years behind bars, after being arrested for climbing into people’s houses to steal their jewellery.

She would then melt the jewellery down into gold bars, and sell it to dealers.

Jennifer stole over £5.5 million worth of jewellery but was finally caught after police investigated the shop she was melting down the gold.

The former prisoner’s video, which was posted under the username @jenjengomez2.0, has likely left many people open-mouthed, as it has racked up over 1.3 million views on the video sharing platform.

TikTok users raced to the video’s comments section to share their thoughts.

Assaults in women's prisons

Women’s prisons in the UK are now the most violent they have ever been, with assaults tripling in a decade.

In the year to September, the 3600 strong women’s prison state saw a total of 1630 assaults.

This is much higher than the rate in men’s prisons, which is 40% lower.

Although serious violence has historically been much worse in men’s prisons, it is now almost identical, with 39 of last year’s 110 assaults directed at prison staff.
