SOCIAL media influencer Petty Levels has tragically passed away at the age of 23.
Mia Armaj Bennett, better known online as “Petty Levels,” shot to fame for short videos of her freestyling rap songs.
Her record label Chosen One Records announced the news of her death on July 24 in an Instagram post.
Who was Mia Armaj Bennett?
Mia Armaj Bennett was a social media influencer and musician from Philadelphia who amassed over 1million followers on Instagram.
She rose to fame on social media while in high school as she shared short videos of herself dancing, traveling, and being an adrenaline junkie.
She frequently shared videos of herself dancing on social media and travelling to destinations like Jamaica, Puerto Rico, and Mexico.
What was Petty Levels known for?
In 2018, Petty Levels started making songs and short rap videos where she discussed her romantic relationships and took digs at men.
In a 2020 interview on YouTube, she said: “I love getting a rise out of people.
“I start putting that in rap videos and girls who feel the same way, they took it and they ran with it.”
That same year, she appeared on Fredo Bang’s single “Freak” alongside rapper Latto.
She also released two of her own songs, “Ain’t It” and “Malibu.”
Mia talked about her ambitions to transition to a music career in her 2019 interview with SayCheeseTV.
She said: “Just know that Petty Levels will not just be an Instagram name.
“Sooner or later it will be on the billboards, it will be on your playlists, it will be on the radio, it will be everywhere you go.”
When did Petty Levels pass away?
Mia was found dead on July 19, 2024 in Tampa, Florida.
Around 1.30pm, officers were sent to the 4000 block of Boy Scout Boulevard in Northwest Tampa, close to the airport, in response to a report of a deceased person and discovered the influencer.
According to a police spokesperson, there were “no initial signs to suggest that foul play was a factor” in her death.
The Hillsborough County Medical Examiner’s Office declined to disclose the cause and manner of death due to an ongoing investigation.
The musician’s label, Chosen Records, confirmed the rapper’s death in a social media post.
The post read: “We regret to inform you of the passing of our lil sis PettyLevelOfficial. We ask for prayers and comfort at this time and respect for privacy of the family.”
Following the announcement of the young influencer’s passing on social media, her sizable following base experienced a wave of grief and disbelief.
Her family refuted rumours circulated by some websites and social media pages that she was killed in Philadelphia.
Mia’s grief-stricken family asked for privacy during the difficult times.
Her aunt Kimberlee Mercado said on Instagram: “I’m going to beg everybody to please stop with the comments in reference to my niece.
“Please let this family and our family grieve on our own.
“Please let them investigate. What we ask for is prayers. Please rip Mia known as Pettylevel on Instagram. Again please just send prayers.”
