YOUTUBER Ben Potter, 40, better known as Comicstorian, has died after an accident.
The YouTuber’s wife, Nathalie, took over his social media accounts to share the sad news with his fans.
“Two days ago, on June 8th, my husband, Ben Potter, passed away in an unfortunate accident,” Nathalie’s statement began.
“To many of you, he was Comicstorian, voicing stories from across multiple different mediums. To his loved ones, he was one of the best and most supportive individuals anyone could ask for.”
“His channel was one of his greatest accomplishments, and while we all need our time to mourn him, I know he wouldn’t want it to end like this,” she continued.
Nathalie says she and Potter’s team plan on continuing his channel, although it is unclear how.
“Ben spent over 10 years spreading his love and appreciation for his hobbies,” she said.
“The team and I want to keep that going.”
“To honor him by continuing to tell great stories by great people, as well as to keep the memory of our very own superhero alive,” she explained.
“We supported each other on everything we wanted to do and I’m not about to stop now.”
Fans were heartbroken upon hearing the news, rushing to the comments to honor the YouTuber and offer his wife their condolences.
“I’ve never been gutted like this over a celebrity death before,” wrote one Redditor.
“One of the few YouTube channels I genuinely enjoyed. Seemed like a awesome guy, so sorry for your loss,” said another
“I was just listening to Absolutely Comics on lunch,” wrote someone else.
“I am legit shocked and saddened.”
At this time, his exact cause of death is unclear.
Who was Comicstorian?
Ben Potter, 40, was a YouTuber with over three-million subscribers, a self-proclaimed comic nerd, and host of The Weekly Pull, and Absolute Comics, two podcasts dedicated to all things comics.
Potter made a career out of his love for comics, creating audio dramas on his YouTube, successfully drawing many new fans who previously weren’t into the genre.
“Ben’s videos were the main reason why I got into reading comics,” one post read.
Aside from audio dramas, Potter made explainer videos where he dove into the lore and origins of different comics, universes, and characters.
Potter also had vlog named after himself, a gaming channel called Eligible Monster Gaming, a manga channel known as Mangastorian, and a rant channel – Benny Has A Problem.
Potter’s last video, posted just three days ago, has over 51,000 views with almost 4,000 comments – most wishing their condolences and thanking the YouTuber for all he has done for comics and the people who love them .

Two days ago, on June 8th, my husband, Ben Potter, passed away in an unfortunate accident.
To many of you, he was Comicstorian, voicing stories from across multiple different mediums. To his loved ones, he was one of the best and most supportive individuals anyone could ask for. As a husband, a son, a brother, a friend, or even just a stranger, Ben was loving and genuine. He was someone who would listen and make time for his loved ones. He would do his best to make everyone laugh and make sure they were okay. He was our rock and he’d reassure his loved ones whenever they needed it.
He was my world and I need time to be with friends and family. I have so many things I need to figure out but firstly, I need to grieve. I ask that you respect my privacy as well as everyone else’s. Right now my priority is preserving everything he’s built and I don’t have any plans beyond that.
His channel was one of his greatest accomplishments, and while we all need our time to mourn him, I know he wouldn’t want it to end like this.
Ben spent over 10 years spreading his love and appreciation for his hobbies. It was through his love of exciting stories and well written characters that got him started on YouTube.
The team and I want to keep that going. To honor him by continuing to tell great stories by great people, as well as to keep the memory of our very own superhero alive.
